Success Stories

Success Story

In the future this space will be used to report the success stories of our members. Until we have those stories, I thought I would take the time to write about the idea of ‘success.’ This may sound a little strange, but the truth is too many people regard their ultimate goals the only thing worth considering as that ‘success.’ However, when it comes the entertainment industry that kind of thinking can kill you very quickly. One famous actor was asked what it took to get to the top. His response was, ‘It takes about fifty breaks.’ And that tends to be true. While for some it may be as simple as getting lucky at a Disney kids’ audition, for most it’s a few steps at a time. Even for someone like George Clooney, it took several years of guest appearances here and there on TV before he hit it big on ER. Only then did he become a movie star. With the exception of an early spot on Little House on the Prairie, Sean Penn's path was filled with years of extras gigs

The point is, everyone starts somewhere. Each small success or ‘win’ is meaningful. Fifteen years ago Angelina Jolie was probably pretty thrilled to land a small part in that epic Cyborg 2 (No, really, I looked it up.) That small win led to another part, then another…you get the idea.

So, of course, we want to hear about the big wins, but we also want to hear about the smaller ones because they all count.
